Our Mission

Inspired, created and fully funded by Veterans United Home Loans employees, Veterans United Foundation exists to enhance lives. Fueled by passion, generosity and an unwavering commitment to give, the Foundation is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and service members, for employees and their families, and in local communities served by Veterans United.

About the Foundation

Veterans United Foundation is the philanthropic division of Veterans United Home Loans. Incepted in November 2011, the Foundation is funded from employee contributions that are matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. More than 90 percent of Veterans United employees contribute a percentage of their paychecks to the Foundation. Employees also take an active role in referring possible needs to the foundation and showing the community support through volunteer work.

Leadership

Veterans United Foundation gives donations based on the direction of an allocations committee. The committee consists of six Veterans United Home Loans employees who are elected by their peers to serve a two year term. Each committee member has demonstrated a desire to go above and beyond in living out the company's core values, acting as an advocate and voice for their colleagues. The committee is dedicated to serving veterans and its communities and is honored to have such a vital role in the decision-making process of their Foundation.

Miranda Giger – Outreach Coordinator

Miranda joined the Veterans United family in 2011 as a marketing intern while studying at the University of Missouri. Upon graduating with a degree in Business Administration, Miranda joined the Foundation as the team’s full-time outreach coordinator.

The granddaughter of a Navy veteran, Miranda is a passionate supporter of military causes and her desire to give back runs in the family. As the foundation's outreach coordinator, Miranda cultivates relationships with likeminded organizations, connects the Foundation with key individuals in the nonprofit world and researches potential causes for the Foundation to support.

Lindsey Sells – Communications Coordinator

Lindsey has been a member of the Veterans United family since 2010, when she started as an insurance producer. Her passion for helping veterans and giving back led her to the Foundation, where she was named communications coordinator in January 2013.

After graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in Communications, Lindsey started a family in Columbia with her husband, Scotty, and their children Paige and Thatcher. She is an avid volunteer and has participated locally in events such as the Special Olympics, March of Dimes and Upward Sports.

As communications coordinator, Lindsey’s main focus is keeping Veterans United employees informed on Foundation                                                  events and donations, filtering internal ideas and questions, and overseeing employee donation requests.
